From there the IP address can be tracked to an ISP and thus a customer and their house. You won't be able to get all the info but the police can obtain it via a search warrant. I'm a deputy in SoCal and tracked down someone's Xbox One he had stolen from him. The police will have to write a search warrant to MS for connection logs based on your serial number once they have the logs it will show an IP address. They then write a search warrant for subscriber information based on the IP address and connection times. Once they have the subscriber information they then write a search warrant for the house it is connecting from.

It isn't a quick process but it's what needs to be done. And do you think the police will actually help him? I've had a few friends get their system robbed and the police gave them the old run around. You may be a nice guy who helped but I'm sure you're the exception and not the standard. Op should just put in an insurance claim and get a new one. I recently had my 360 stolen and have noticed that they have been using both of the live accounts on my 360. I called microsoft and asked if they could give me the ip address that they were using to sign into my account but they said they didn't have access to that infomation. I was wondering if anyone had any tips to track a gamertag or if i just wasn't talking to the right person over there at microsoft. Djrobst or they sold it to someone who dont know and is just using it I think the fact that his email is getting used as well sorta rules that out. If you want to find his IP, you could always trick him onto going on a website, by emailing a link to your email for him to go on? One thing that comes to mind is, and I know this sounds stupid, but wowstead.com. Download Megaman Zero 3 Hack. It's a site for making guild sites for WoW, but thats not important. It has a tool where you can see your vistors IP addresses. So all you'd have to do would be send him a tinyurl link in a vaguely plausible email, and bingo, you've got your IP.
